"Teaching high school choir for the past 9 years and watching students grow up into young adults and creating music of their own, have made the days seem to fade into one anotherâ¦"

It was this idea that sparked the initial creation of âThe Dayfade Projectâ a piano based pop/rock band formed in middle America and inspired through small town minds with big city dreams. An evolving band made up of a high school choir director and some of his former students âThe Dayfade Projectâ have released their first album âPlatform Drowning."

When it comes to influences âThe Dayfade Projectâ draw from a well-spring of sources including: The Counting Crows, Alanis Morissette, Ben Folds, Augustana, Blue Merle, The Dave Matthews Band, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple and Coldplay, just to name a few. Driven by the post-grunge sounds of the 90âs âThe Dayfade Projectâ cling to those simplistic pop/rock chord structures with layers of harmony slightly infused with some jazz and melodies to compliment the lyrical content.

Teaching High School, Heartbreak, Friendships, Relationships (past and present), Life, Lack of Sleep, Dreams, Treasures at the End of Prisms, Delusions of Grandeur, Normalcy (or the lack there of), Arrangements Temporary, & Ghost Past Memories are all things singer/songwriter Roberts has been influenced by to continue to create his music. âThis is more like a journal for me. It just happens to be one with a melodyâ he says.

Their hit song âSidekickâ is an upbeat pop hook dedicated to Mr. Robertsâ students and what theyâve meant to him over the past 9 years. âPlatform Drowning" however has a startling sense of longing and loneliness from the 31 year old popular teacher. The emotional damage wrought from songs like âNormalâ or âSmalltownâ is only confirmed with the powerful and heartbreaking ending on âIf We Couldâ to close out the album.
