Details:
David Flower's live show can best be described as a sonic excursion crossing bluesy currents, funky peaks and reggae valleys. This modern day troubadour expresses stories of love, politics and mother nature⦠and is not afraid to hang some dirty washing out on stage.
Flower's individual guitar style combines with charming, lyrical approach to singing and harp playing. The band itself adds a mix of drums, percussion and bass guitar, highlighted by colourful harmonies. This playful rhythm section has a wealth of individual performance experience (Toothfaeries, Lothlorien, Houseprouds), giving Flower the platform for a free spirited, magnetic show.
Since the release of the "David Flower" (self titled) album in November 2006, David has received airplay on Triple J, ABC regional radio, 4AAA and 4ZZZ Brisbane, as well as various community radio stations Australia wide.
What they are saying:
A brilliant act, with a huge presence on stage, Dave Flower empowered his audiences, and was one of the highlights of the festival this year.
A mixture of folk/ rock / blues, they stole the nightâs concert , accelerated the crowds elation with their energised performances and had everyone,( including the festival organisers!), on their feet.
We will hopefully be seeing them again at Wintermoon and I thoroughly recommend their act to any festival or event lucky enough to have them apply.
Jenny Drake
Wintermoon Festival Coordinator
âThe new David Flower Band is on fire. Lots of rhythm and some of the nicest harmonies to come along in a while"
- Jay Bishop, Peregian Originals
âThe prolific Flower has a particular attraction to the acoustic guitarâs ability to create natural melody, which is evident on his new self titled album. He plays a unique, enticing blend of acoustic folk and reggae expressing himself both on a personal and social levelâ
- Time Off
âThe eagerly awaited CD from the master of reggae, beach funk, soft rock and warm ballads hit the right notesâ
- Ken Lord, Courier Mail
âHis command of the stage and interwoven musical styles had the audience lapping up every beat and every noteâ
- Sharyn Rosewarne, Sunshine Coast Daily
âThe band, known for punching out funky tight sounds, had the audience in a dance frenzy from the very first beatâ
- Maz Henley, organizer, Palm Creek Music Festival
âGreat social commentary filled with raw honesty and warm songs of love. It really is something you can put on and have a good listen to the lyrics. A well balanced album by musicians who really know their stuffâ
- Lisa Kither, Sunshine Coast Daily
