D.O.E...Detroit Organized Entrepreneurs was officially formed in 2004 by six young men from Detroit, Michigan; with a vision to manage their musical interest and control their own talents.
By just looking at these men, you would not know that there exist five degrees amongst these artists. Therefore, being an Entrepreneur is not a new topic of discussion when it comes to D.O.E. SeanFrank attended Alabama A&M in 2002, Mic Nix attended Michigan State University where he obtained his Bachelors in ECE and later attended the University of Michigan to obtain his Masters. Shank attended GMI in Flint, MI where he earned an Electrical Engineering degree and later continued his educational endeavors to obtain his Masters degree from Purdue University. Quite frankly, these gentlemen talents and abilities surpass many artists in the hip hop genre today.
With smooth-laid back beats under hard hitting vocals, D.O.E creates music that transcends the average artist to captivate listeners of all genres. Their music implicitly paints the culture of Detroit with flashy lyrics and rhymes that inspire hope and unity. The D.O.E catalog consists of three mix tapes; The Warm Up Vol. 1-3, and the debut album City Council.
When asked âwhy title the mix tape The Warm Upâ the response was that âyou need to get prepared for something thatâs hot otherwise, when you pick it up you will instantly drop it because you donât know how to handle itâ. For this group the mix tapes serve as a prequel to crafty lyrics that you will find in the coming years are timeless. Any hip-hop fan will love these MCs that pack the flair of Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg; with melodic beats that resemble âMannie Freshâ.
In terms of music, rap is nothing but experiences and dreams over drums and snares. For D.O.E, they have been DREAMING all of their LIVES!
