_Remember Me: New, Original Folk Music for the American Soldier_, was truly a grass-roots project. A southern New Jersey folk/rock artist known simply as Dom wrote one song to promote a benefit concert for military children. Months later, he wrote two more tunes for a rally to support active-duty personnel. And that's as far as the songs were supposed to go: folk-style tributes to bolster worthy causes.

But a groundswell of support from regional radio for one unmastered recorded song, plus requests for more music, prompted a full-fledged studio project in summer/fall of 2007.

"If I knew this wonderful response was going to happen, I would've planned it better," joked Dom, whose 2006 album, _Along the Way_, garnered radio awards in the Delaware Valley.

Indeed, the EP features five songs written at various times for different purposes. But all share the theme of humanizing -- rather than politicizing -- those who serve in the military.

Fittingly, the first case of CDs was shipped to the Delaware chapter of Soldiers' Angels to be included in care packages. But the songs are now available to anyone who enjoys contemporary music crafted in the simple, folk tradition.

_Remember Me: New, Original Folk Music for the American Soldier_, is professionally engineered and manufactured, but remains self-released by a musician proud to be called "independent." Radio stations as far away as Colorado got wind of the project and broadcast the pre-release recordings. Like a troubadour hopping trains, Domâs music is gradually visiting more of the nation, one community at a time.
