HIP HOP/RAP: Hardcore Rap, WORLD: Asian

Details:
Way back in 1993, local music enthusiasts got the shock of their lives when a rap grour called Death Threat blasted and lambasted authority figures in the government with a song called "Bantay Zalakay" from their self-titled album. Going along with the times, they also touched on the subject of fraternity wars with "Fratsta." At a time when rap was still trying to retain a "wholesome" image, Genezide and Beware, the two main men behimd Death Threat, actually had the guts to change the way the game is played. Since their gripping debut, thet already made their presence felt in the local music scene. They said what they wanted to say unmindful of what other people think! they just did it their way. Their was, in essense, "rap with attitude".

Aside from their boldness and daring, what makes Death Threat different from other rap groups "making a statement", is that they don't resort to verses with curses. Death Threat is composed of different rappers, each with something to say in his own way. Beneath his own figures of speech and humurous wordplay, Genezide subtly yet directly attacks your mind and awakens your consciousness to what to really wants to say -- often and always, the cold, harsh truth about life. Beware is the "gangsta rapper" whose lyrics are about his real life experience in Sactown, California. Gloc-9, like the weapon (Beware named him) flow with such speed and forceful velocity, that when you listen to him you'll have to try your best to catch up or eat his dust. And as far as for Radikal MK, he isn't your typical DJ who plays and mixes songs. He actually turns his turntable into a musical instrument. churning out scratching noises like notes that express the depth of his creativity. This immense talent of his was recognized when he won the DMC Philippines Championship in 1996.
Death Threat is the best of the lot because they may all be different but when they make music, they become a singular unit of sound, and you'll never even guest the're made up of different components. Three albums later Genezide, Beware, Radikal MK and Gloc-9 thought that it was time to emphasize that they are NOT splitting. In fact, they still contribute to each other's solo project via featured vocals or as producers for a particular track or several tracks.
Presently the group new members are Konflick, aka dyablo and Phat-L. ya'll could check em out on STILL WANTED....
