So I remember sitting there, watching films, listening to the soundtracks and thinking, "what a cool job". I listened to my mum's old records and thought how cool it would be to work with bands. And then the two things just kind of started to happen at the same time, in a little church in Glasgow where all the bands would come out to play and to record. It was called CAVA studios and I had started writing some music for films in a small studio at the back. And then the bands rehearsing next door would ask me to help out on their records. Arranging the string parts, playing keyboards, conducting - that kind of stuff. And as I worked with more bands, the film guys kind of liked it, and I did more soundtracks. And as I did more soundtracks, the bands kind of liked it, so I worked with more bands. Then a couple of those bands asked me why I didnât write my own stuff. So I did. And I got some of those bands that liked the films that liked the bands to join in. I call it Filmtales, mostly because I had to call it something and people have said that it sounds quite cinematic. Personally, I wouldn't read too much into that, though. And thatâs pretty much how we get to here. Iâve got my first solo album coming out, and Iâm still sitting here thinking âwhat a cool jobâ¦â Bio................ Paul Leonard-Morgan is an artist who many would dismiss as unknown, however his music has graced almost every living room in the country at some point. His scores have appeared in numerous big British dramas (Spooks, Silent Witness and The Brief), epic Natural History documentaries (Galapagos) and sporting programmes (The World Cup, ITV Boxing and The Golf Open on the BBC). Paul's hard work has been commended at the highest level; he won a BAFTA for Best New Composer (2000) for Pineapple and has received nominations for the Anthony Asquith (BAFTA) Award and the Best Original Music for Television (Ivor Novello Award) for his score on the hit 2004 drama Fallen. Paul was also recently honoured by the US Olympic Committee after being commissioned to compose the new anthem for the US Olympic Team. Paul has produced a vast array of music over the years. Other popular series such as Body Shock, Dispatches and The Imp (the animation series featuring the voices of the Green Wing cast) are a few of the programmes that have played host to his music. His talent has seen Paul working with a variety of acts including Texas, Mercury prize nominee Isobel Campbell, Craig Armstrong, Brit award winners Belle & Sebastian, Snow Patrol, Joy Zipper and Mercury prize nominees The Young Knives. Now, Paul is proud to present his debut solo album, Filmtales. A collection of works that merge popular types of music under one multi-genred umbrella. With a concoction of harmonies and instrumental pieces - where classical arrangements meet contemporary beats - laid over somber vocals. Paul's music is a change of pace within contemporary chill out music. While he maintains his classical narration throughout the album, he combines it with beats that alter the resonance. The album boasts collaborations from The Beta Band's Steve Mason, Isobel Campbell, Esther OâConnor and Belle & Sebastian's Richard Colburn, as well as the stunning vocals of Jenna G.
