Details:
Rob Roper has played guitar since he was twelve, mostly as a hobby. He didn't start getting serious about music until he was in his 30's. He was in and out of various bands in Tucson, Arizona. One of those was Faded Innocence, a partnership with bassist-singer-songwriter Kurt Loken. Roper recorded two homemade cassette LP's for Faded Innocence.

In 2000, Roper moved to Denver, Colorado, and began playing guitar again, but then decided to get serious about songwriting around 2004. The first result of his songwriting efforts is "Some Songs I Wrote", a 7-song do-it-yourself low-fi CD recorded at his Denver home. "Some Songs I Wrote" was released in the summer of 2007.

"Some Songs I Wrote" includes a short, ironically peppy tongue-in-cheek look at bipolar disorder ("Bipolar"), an introspective personal song ("Invisible Prison"), a slam at artists who write sappy love songs ("A Special Request"), a song for a friend who lost his sister ("When They Go"), an anger management song ("Let it Go"), and closes with an Irish drinking-style song dedicated to all of us who make mistakes--that is, to all humans. Roper included his political satire, "Wave the Flag and Give 'em God" as a hidden track at the end of the record.

The arrangements are sparse. With the exception of "A Special Request"--which is piano-based, the songs are acoustic guitar-based, usually with electric bass, and with the occasional electric guitar, keyboard, harmonica or mandolin accompaniment. Roper played all the instruments on the record.
