SLD has been playing and recording music for the last 12 years. He has been in a few different bands, including Litterbug, Sea Chords and Wacousta, and has opened for such bands as Jad Fair, Elevator, Adult Rodeo and the Turaeward Family (Pete Turland, Linda McRae and Ronnie Hayward). A couple years ago, SLD had received a small book of poems that his Grandfather had written. He wrote these poems in 1944, while stationed in England during WWII. The poems reflected his view of the war, his comrades' bravery and courage and the sense of peace that was approaching. But more personally, they were about his wife and child, his longing of home and the fond memories of all the little things in life you take for granted. The idea to put music to these poems was partially inspired by the way Bob Dylan was rumoured to set music to old Hank Williams lyrics in the 60's, and Wilco and Billy Bragg creating songs around Woody Guthrie lyrics. '1944' was recorded, arranged and produced from January 2004-November 2004 by SLD. All instruments and vocals were performed by SLD, except background noises, provided by MJD.

SLD's current release is the 'Trilogie' single, available on CMF Records. Released as a 1 song single, it combines 3 parts interweaved to create one piece - Part 1 - I Met A Girl / Part 2 - Along The Way / Part 3 - But Now She's Gone.

SLD is currently working on a new album, 'Stone & Spruce', to be released late summer/early fall.
