Details:
Hailing from the Santa Rosa / Petaluma region, Derge has stepped forward with their six track EP which is a wide ranging emotional effort, moving all over the map with different feels and waves, essentially keeping an extremely moody ambient nature. Featuring drummer Shaun Wagner, guitarist Brian Starke, bassist Anthony Tapia and the mood swollen vocals of Tony Presti, Derge has completed a solid effort no doubt, with a good insight into their musical structure yet still coming off well from a distance.

Some of the highlights on this disc include the second track "Plumpers" which offers a hook-laden chorus backed into a corner by a strong bass / guitar combination, "Condescend" which offers some quicker strum guitar work with an alternating vocal / whisper melody through the verse, and "Pretty Little Bitch" which features some harshly critical lyrical content.

This disc definitely moves well and brings in some slower, almost tripped out sections to break apart each tune into different distinct pieces. With a lyrical read that, on the surface, appears to be a ranting younger male, really seems to have several levels, moving with the rhythm and overall tempo. Between the serene, cleaner sections and the angrier, bark and growl it out hardcore edged feels, Derge keeps the sound low to the ground, with a solid drum / sometimes hyper bass line backbone weaving the story. This disc will open a few eyes.
