DERICK DAHL is an unforgettable new artist emerging from the Orange County music scene. From the time he could read the titles on his dad's LP collection, Dahl was teaching himself to play the guitar. Intrigued with music at a very early age the kid listened to anything and played anything: from mandolin to bass, piano, banjo, drums, and guitar. Inspired by bands The Police, The Beatles and The Who and artists like Tom Petty, Seal, and Kenny Loggins Dahl draws from an eclectic mix of musical gems in his writing. Some consider Derick Dahl a musical prodigy, he smiles and humbly says, "I'm just a guy that's in love with music."
The debut release, BRIGHTER DAY, starts off with the title track, a smooth reggae-rooted rhythm delivering glimpses of the misty, orange-yellow sunsets on PCH and then it SETS OFF to the irresistible chorus of "Movie Star", a pop-rock tune with a captivating energy that CONSUMES even the most unsuspecting listener. . . the record moves into the quirky, classic sounding "The Architect" that has the ghost of Sgt. Pepper lingering in its innards. Dahl displays his true dynamics as a songwriter in "Turn Out the Light", a moving ballad with a chorus that is unforgettably-- epic. With more surprises still untold, BRIGHTER DAY is a must-have rock record.
