Details:
JAMI (Jamaica Music Awards) nominee for Best Gospel Band, Best New Reggae Gospel album Nominee for the New York Caribbean Gospel Awards (NYCGA) 2002, Awarded 2003 most Distinguished Male Vocal (NYCGA) and Nominated Best New Reggae Gospel Album by the Merlin Gospel Awards 2004 - Wayne Stoddart is back with an innovative independent roots gospel album entitled Love Convictions. The sophomore album is an authentic reggae project staged on uplifting inspirational lyrics.
His solo debut album, "Committed," was self-produced. The title track Committed exploded the Jamaican air waves and spent 8 weeks at number one on the Love 101 FMâs top 10 chart.
LOVE CONVICTION is the kind of deep introspective album that most artists aspire to make. "It addresses the issue of misplaced priorities that plagues humanity," Stoddart said. "I pray this album makes a difference in the lives of all who come within earshot." Stoddart went on to explain that he was inspired to write many of the songs from the album from his closer than ever relationship with God and the revelation of The Word revealed to him by the Holy Spirit.
From the militant expressive Move On, to the easy-listening Live Love and Learn to the Foot stumping Reggae Rock the album mirrors the greatest commandments â Love God and Love each other. LOVE CONVICTIONS is an accompanying tool for overcoming adversity. Move On is an encouraging theme full of allegory of a Christianâs fight to keep focused on the Promised Land in the face of opposition. Lives in Smoke takes a serious look at the dangers of drug abuse to both the physical and spiritual man. Love in any Language addresses the issue of disunity on a global scale and speaks to the need for ethnic, religious and social harmony among all nations. Immediately after the appeal for peace you are led into an atmosphere of worship with the powerful â Highest Praise which showcases the talent of Platinum Producer Dale âDr. Dizzleâ Virgo on a modern lovers rock reggae riddim.
Background vocals were done by the well acclaimed TNJ (Nikki and Tina), Abi, and Carol Dexter and the talented band and production cast included names like Clifton âJohnnyâ Clarke, Leighton âFloydâ Henry, Craig McDonald, Othniel "Ottey" Lewis, Benjy Myaz, Hugh Palmer, Sly Dunbar, Rohan Dwyer, Damond Stoddart, Zamar, Dalton Brownie, St. Matthew and members of the Code Red Band.
Jamaican born Stoddart entered the gospel music scene in the mid 90âs touring with the Grace Thrillers and has shared stage with the likes of Shirley Caesar, FC Barnes, Morgan Heritage, Sherene Anderson and Judy Mowat (Former member of Bob Marleyâs I-Threes) to name a few. In essence, Stoddart is a dynamic reggae gospel artist both on stage and off; he is a dedicated Christian and a top-class musician. This album is a must have for all reggae music lovers and gospel music lover alike. Itâs a steal if you fall in both categories!
