Disruption was formed in 1998 after being placed together to be the house band for The Embassy at the University of Waterloo.

Known just as the Embassy Band at that point, the original group consisted of anywhere from five to eight members (depending on the night!n and it was here that they started forming the foundation of what would become Disruption.

After playing at the Embassy for a year, Brian Courtney, Brent Ferguson, Stephen Preston, and Jen Bryant decided to branch out on their own.

Soon after, Jen left the band and Chris McIntyre was recruited to play guitar.

With the band now established, they set out with a purpose to make a difference in the world.

Realizing that society was progressively becoming one lacking in basic morals and values, and having a strong desire to 'disrupt the way people think about life' they settled on the name Disruption.

Disruption exists to challenge the way people think about everyday life and the choices they make each day.

With the continued rise of issues such as poverty, racism, and teen suicide, and the crime rate rising, the band realizes that there needs to be more done than just passing laws and legislation to curb these trends.

The real issue is the state of people's hearts in society.

The band believes the answer lies in the spiritual side of life.

They ask questions such as, 'Why am I here? Is there such a thing as fate? Are you in control of your life? What is truth?', and these become evident in the songs they play.

Disruption isn't just about asking tough life questions though.

Their concerts are full of heavy, driving guitars, kickin drums and bass, and in your face sound and lights.

They believe a concert is more than something you go to hear.

Rather, it is an event you must experience!
