Long ago in a land far away called 'The '70's' it all began. Sitting in the student lounge between classes at The University of New Mexico, ideas for songs started appearing in his head. He wrote some of them down, like 'A Medicine Show' and 'Taking Time' and a few more. He shared them with his friend Rod Guinn who collaborated with him and wrote music and melodies and whatever might be needed to make these ideas into songs. Unfortunately nobody wanted to hear them.
Then ................... years later new ideas began to appear and he worked these into songs fighting tooth and nail at times to tame them into an appearance of beauty. Thus were born 'Lady of the Lake' inspired by an antique hand tinted photo of a beautiful young woman of the early 1900's (which is featured on the cover); and the plaintively questioning 'Baby, Can't You See?', along with an observation won from personal experience in 'Love You Back' .
This forms the first of four parts of 'The Butterfly Project .......' which will catch you up and fill in some gaps in the musical history of C. Paul Buckles.
The CD is an "enhanced CD" and contains all of the lyrics to the songs as well as pictures of the "Lady of the Lake" antique photograph. Digital downloads will hopefully be avaialble by 2008. Please be patient.
The biggest and most profound "thankyou" is extended to Dinah Pollard and Rick Alengi for providing their considerable talent to this recording.
Calvin,
I just finished listening to your new CD, The Butterfly Project: Lady of the Lake. Cool stuff. Great idea to put the lyrics and pictures on the CD, I can't believe I haven't been doing that. "Lady of the Lake" is my favorite, hands down. Great tune.
Have a fantastic day,
Noel
