JT Hall is the stage name of James Hall originally from Toledo Ohio. The stage name was taken because of sharing the same name with the legendary Jimmy Hall also residing in Nashville, TN. Thatâs show biz!

A self taught musician, JT did not start in music until leaving the US Marines. He taught himself to play the guitar during personal time on board the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea. Upon returning from the military, he entered college, and began playing in a band
to earn money, and have some fun. The band ultimately worked the Holiday Inn circuit playing cover tunes around the country. JT wound up in Phoenix, AZ where he attended and received a Bachelor degree in marketing from Arizona State University.

During his time in Phoenix, JT wrote songs of his own and met Debbie Campbell, daughter of Glen. He played guitar in her band and sang backup. Debbieâs band played Las Vegas, giving him experience at a demanding level.

While working on some of his own songs in Phoenix, he met Billy Williams, Producer for Lyle Lovett. Billy told him that he had to go to Nashville if he was serious about writing music.
