Lyricist/DJ thaPL : tha Phreaky Lunatic is an artist with the desire to educate & uplift through his experiences in life particularly those in the inner city. A native of Oakland, California, thaPL ( Also known as Niamke Muhammad: A name chosen after embracing the Islamic faith) interests in music began at an early age. With Rap music on the rise during the late 80's and early 90's, thaPL took to the lifestyle and the artist that were the catalysts for the genre. " I would spend hours daily listening to rap crews like Run-DMC & the Sugar Hill Gang, those kats were bringing a style unheard of, that's apart of what inspired me to really want to rhyme" During thaPL's high school years, he became active in a lot of the music activities and events, due in part to the encouragement of friends and family. within those years, thaPL took an interest in the art form of deejayin, shortly after being employed for school dances, and other student body events. " All my homies show me love, they always told me man you got it and you can do it, and to this day I never lost sight of that"



thaPL notes Too Short, Just-Ice & public Enemy as a few of the inspirations for his own personal artistry. thaPL has been featured on various local artist projects and become a familiar performer on the Bay Area underground hip-hop circuit. One of thaPL's memorable accomplishments was obtaining a opening slot on a show at San Francisco, California's legendary Maritime Hall, Home to many hip-hop concerts. " Being able to share a stage that so many lyricist's have performed on was a dream come true for me, the reaction from the crowd gave the confidence to give them my all". thaPL is currently at work on his debut project as well as other projects featuring his rhyming styles. thaPL says his goal is simply this " To bring awareness and inspire people in every ghetto, in every city, internationally for the common goal of unification through words and music".
