Wilhelm Josef (Wil) Allen, a gifted and multi-talented songwriter, hails from the state of Louisiana by way of Belzoni, Mississippi. This native of Marrero, LA is not your ordinary gospel songwriter. With a humble spirit, Wil has charmed his way into the hearts of all who pay attention to his smooth but funky gospel sound. Wilâs music has been described by his listeners as being exciting, funky, groovy and heart warming in one shell.

Wil began his musical career at the Greater Macedonia Pentecostal Church where he was the keyboard player. He later started leading worship and singing with a high school quartet group. It wasnât until he was in college that he was inspired by several talented musicians and was challenged to develop his own style. On a chorus scholarship, singing with a choir known for singing all but gospel, Wil was more focused on developing his vocal instrument to be an opera or Broadway performer.

After attending college, Wil accepted a position as a musician in Sacramento, Californinia, at the Gospel Center Church of God In Christ where he was exposed to a host of talented organ and keyboard players, and all sorts of musicians. During this period of his life he started writing music, and found peace in releasing his musical thoughts on paper.

Wil has tried several times to record different projects, but none of them would ever conceive, in order to birth. Until his latest venture when teaming up with Legacy Studioâs Owner and producer Robin (Rob) Rorie. Wil has said that Rob was God sent, and when God sends someone, expect results. Rob opened the Legacy Studio doors for Wil to be creative and express himself in a way that God was dealing with him musically, and he did just that.

Single released in October 2007, âGodâs Wilâ will quickly become a hot commodity in the Gospel and mainstream secular community. Godâs Wil is who he desires to become and as his song says, what he wants to do. The release of this single is just a start of what has been in a cocoon for several trying years. Wil is now praise and worship leader at two sister churches in Covington, Louisiana (Faith Bible Church & Covenant Christian Church), and he says that along with playing in back-up bands with Jazz artist Fred Sanders, âthis has taught me humbleness and patienceâ, and it has also been a tremendous training ground.

Wil is no stranger to the music world. His great-aunt Denise LaSalle is a world famous blues artist with a discography that stretches from A-Z. He has a host of cousins in the gospel arena that ministered with the Rev. James Cleveland, Kurt Karr, and other various artists.

Wilâs desire is to complete his first full-length Godâs Wil CD and secondly to incorporate his praise and worship team into his future projects. He says that he is taking his time on this project because he wants to capture Godâs heart and inspiration clearly in order not just to put out another CD, but also to give God the Glory.

As Wil is a family-oriented man, he attributes much of his success to the support of his wifey, children, family and friends. He thanks Pastor George Green (brother-in-law), Jamila Pennington Pierre (Sister) who has continued to speak his gifts and project into existence. "The prophecy and encouragement has developed purpose in meâ. When George would speak to me is was as though things had already happen. Jamila sparked the Godâs Wil title and the can do attitude that I had to develop". "Without their belief in and support of me I couldn't have started nor finished this CD." But I must be clear, as stated in my CDâs cover, the real thanks goes to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He has been everything I needed, all the time. I Love You Lord!
