Extreme Klezmer Makeover is a quintet of Los Angeles based musicians that blend traditional Jewish wedding dance music from pre-1917 Eastern Europe with an original progressive Klezmer style.

The word "Klezmer", loosely translated, means "an instrument of song". Each of our members sings the "music of Klezmer" through their own unique musical background.

Klezmer has always been a melding together of the melodies and modes of Jewish Cantorial Music, Eastern European Folk Music, Gypsy, Greek, Turkish and Persian Music. Extreme Klezmer Makeover carries on this rich multi-cultural tradition by incorporating the diverse musical styles of its members into the traditional Klezmer repertoire. This CD has Klezmer Classics as well as new origianl tunes which have been influenced by Jazz, American Folk, Blues, R&B, Bluegrass and Middle Eastern genres.

Extreme Klezmer Makeover continues the tradition of melding and blending, in other words, "making-over", the music of our Eastern European predecessors. Our goal, like theirs, is to bring joy, celebrate life, document life, and uplife life through song.
