Singer/songwriter Francis Levoy
"It's all about meeting people who can relate to where ever the lyric takes them".
There is a sincereness about Francis Levoy that characterizes his songs. He writes about daily life experiences, things he comes across during his travels around the world, or just a story he wants to tell. Anything that touches his soul. Be it the two mixed worlds of poverty and richness he encountered in Mexico or the loss of a loved one.
Singer songwriters have something to say and Francis Levoy is no exception. He wants his songs to be heard. Holland Francis Levoy started writing and performing songs at the early age of fifteen. Born into a family of seven his musical influences have been many. A mother who played the piano and liked to listen to Hank Williams. A father who played in a Dixieland band and four sisters and two brothers whose tastes differed from Bob Dylan, Van Morrison to Jackson Browne and The Beatles. Starting of as a drummer at the age of twelve, he soon discovered he needed his sister's guitar to play and write songs. He wrote his first song at the age of fifteen and continued doing so during his time at college where he studied English. He played coffeehouses and bars both in Holland and abroad. Through the years he has molded his songwriting into his own unique style. Admired by his peers for his songwriting, he was told by Troy Campbell he had a lot of "Soul" resulted in being asked to co/write or wanting to record one of his songs. Some would label them contemporaryFolkRock,RootsRock some would name it adult alternative folk/rootsrock.Americana " ...whatever you want to call it.
Francis Levoy's debut album Hobos Bordercollies and Seven Children, had been well received both by listeners and critics and got a lot of airplay on local and national radio stations both in the Netherlands and Abroad. It won a music award for best cd. Francis also received a music award for best unplugged artist. But according to Francis Levoy itâs not about becoming world famous itâs just about meeting people around the world wanting to hear your songs and hear you perform them. So they can relate to where ever the lyrics take them. In 2007 Francis again couldn't resist "the call of the studio" which resulted in the release of a brand-new album "Austin Streets".
"With this album Francis proves that Folk/Rock ballads and RootsRock can surely be merged with contemporary influences"
"Austin Streets is a solid album that very well reflects Francis' current live performances."
