Orginally from San Jose, CA, Anson's roots stemmed from traditional fiddle music. Over the course of his childhood, Anson widened his instrumental curiousity, taking up the electric bass, tenor guitar, and acoustic guitar. After spending many years playing with various bands in several musical genres, Anson finally settled into writing and performing contemporary acoustic music. The tenor guitar, which is traditionally a rhythm instrument, proved to be his primary instrument for composing. With the help of John Lytle, Byron Berline, and Barry Patton, Anson released "Tenor Moments", one of the first solo tenor guitar recordings to date. The compositions have a very "fiddle tune-esque" flavor while incorporating Classical and Bluegrass ideas.
