Franc D'Ambrosio is best known as the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webberâs Tony award-winning musical, âThe Phantom Of The Operaâ. He has performed the role of the masked man close to 3000 times and was awarded the distinction as the âWorldâs Longest Running Phantomâ, an accomplishment immortalized in a cemented hand ceremony in California.

D'Ambrosio was discovered by Paramount Pictures (who sent five talent scouts on a two-year, international search) in the chorus of his first Broadway show, âSweeney Toddâ. He was thrust into the spotlight when cast in the coveted role of Anthony Corleone, the opera singing son of Al Pacino and Diane Keaton, in Francis Ford Coppola's seven-time Academy Award nominated film âGodfather IIIâ.

DâAmbrosio was cast on Friday in New York City and began filming in Rome on Monday. He had the honor of singing the Academy Award winning theme song, âSpeak Softly Loveâ (Brucia la Terra) on the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. His performance of the award winning song impressed the late Luciano Pavarotti that it led to an invitation for him to study with the legendary tenor at his home in Italy. So began his varied and impressive career.
DâAmbrosioâs resume includes an Academy Award nominated film, three Emmy award nominated television shows, two Grammy considerations, and a National Theatre Award nomination for his stage work.
After his impressive run as âThe Phantom Of The Operaâ DâAmbrosio caught the eye of Barry Manilow, who personally selected him to create and star as the male lead, "Tony", in the pre-Broadway tour of âCopacabanaâ. The show enjoyed a successful year long tour. His performance earned DâAmbrosio a National Theatre Award nomination for Best Male Performer in a Musical.
Television appearances include "Entertainment Tonight", "MTV's Spotlightâ, & "Access Hollywood"â (as the red carpet correspondent for coverage of the opening night for the film version of âThe Phantom of the Operaâ).
Recognized for his vibrant voice and legato singing, DâAmbrosio was invited by Olympic Champion Brian Boitano to perform as a Special Musical Guest in the skaterâs NBC special âBrian Boitanoâs Skating Spectacularâ. The TV special starred DâAmbrosio and âAmerican Idolâ runner-up Diana De Garmo. He also joined Boitano in his next TV special, âThe 2005 Tribute to Movies on Iceâ Here DâAmbrosio starred as Special Musical Guest with Michael Bolton and âAmerican Idolâ Kimberly Locke . His performance of âMusic of the Nightâ from the movie âThe Phantom of the Operaâ, and skated to by Boitano, received the eveningâs only standing ovation.
DâAmbrosio also appeared with Michael Feinstein, Amanda McBroom, Maureen McGovern and others on a CD titled âIn Good Companyâ (LML Music). The CD released spring 2005 and received the 2006 Mac Award.
DâAmbrosioâs next project was his one man show - âFranc DâAmbrosioâs Broadwayâ - a celebration of the music that established Broadway as an American art form. With the success of his more than 3 year, 200 city, sold out national tour in this show, DâAmbrosio has joined the ranks of the famed Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman as one of the handful of Phantom alumni to successfully crossover into a flourishing solo career.
DâAmbrosio has been the number one touring artist with the Live On Stage touring organization for the past two years. His new show, âFranc D'Ambrosio's Hollywoodâ, debuted earlier this year at the world famous Plush Room in San Francisco - selling out his three week run.
