Written in 1999 by The Legendary Danny K and a whole host of his talented friends, some old, some new, this is an awesome debut collection of beats, trip-hop, drum'n'bass, and maxed-out vinylism.

The story of the "legendary" Danny k is a complex one - as with all legends, much of it remains dubious - but we are reliably informed his father was a member of culture club and was responsible for writing 80's hit Karma Chameleon. Danny is somewhat more of a "Calmer Chameleon" however and, though his music is very different, it retains a quality of timelessness not often seen in general media. Claims on certain internet fora that he is Boy George's love child seem somewhat far fetched however, and, indeed, hard to corroborate.

He (we are fairly sure it is a he) first appeared on the scene in 1999 with the release of debut album Melatonin. To the far right is a playlist of music from this album.

Melatonin is the story of an artist regressing back to his former "pre-birth" state and was released independently on the former mp3.com. Its fairly easy to pin down Danny at this time due to his web-page (see right). It says that Melatonin was recorded somewhere near Cheltenham in the UK (elsewhere referred to as Buckle Street Studios).

The album was a critical success and featured the vocal talents of Sarah Millyard on Speech who also provided the artwork for the front cover (this name will crop up throughout), Joe Cang on Sleepwalking, Vicky BB on Night Forever and Baba Ram Dass on Silence Between the Words (Canadian readers may recognize this today as the theme tune for one of their TV stations).
