Details:
In 2007, Keeping Sanity was voted by the Colorado Springs Gazette as "Best Local Band." They said, "Rock music is all about energy, and thatâs what these four Woodland Park teenagers deliver by the bucketful. They play original power pop with driving beats and great guitar interplay, practically guaranteed to stick in your head for days." âTheir sound has been best described as: an operatic drama played out through hushed vocals. In addition, clean drum beats with distorted melodies, two secondary vocalists (Stephen & Cole) along with Jeremy Clegg's near whispered voice all give the band a sense of deep structure. Their lyrics are question based and at times poetic, often (thought) provoking the listener to reply.â (Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
Keeping Sanity came together in 2005. They began playing in local âBattle of the Bandsâ where they attracted quite a following. As a winning band, they were invited to play in the final battle, âThe Clash of the Titansâ. After winning âThe Clash of the Titansâ they started taking the band more seriously. Other battle of the band organizations began paying them to participate in their battles because Keeping Sanity brought in the crowds. This further encouraged the guys and they decided to participate and compete in GMAâs (Gospel Music Association) Music in the Rockies. Even though they entered into the competition against professional touring bands, Keeping Sanity won âJudges Choiceâ and was asked to play at Café Estes, their first real gig.
After putting some of their music on My Space, Keeping Sanity was contacted by Illumina Records, working with Ground Control, to include one of their songs in a project benefiting the prevention of drinking and driving. This opportunity has lead to increasing publicity, including the cover of a future issue of âCUSP Magazineâ. Keeping Sanity is busy playing gigs in venues such as Georgeâs Union Station, Cervantes, The Garage, The Element, and Quixotes as well as various youth events and and benefit performances.
