Larry Nath Bio

Larry Nath was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He began performing in and around the Pittsburgh area in various rock and roll bands at the age of seventeen and has continued to do so both with bands and as a solo artist ever since.

After enjoying various degrees of success in rock bands throughout the early part of the 1980âs, a creative turning point came when Larry formed the blues/rock band The Mohicans with guitarist Jimmy Adler. The Mohicans performed regularly at various clubs in the Pittsburgh area
including The Backroom, Excuses, and the famed Decade club in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. The bandâs version of the Jimmy Reed blues classic âCaress Me Babyâ found airplay in the early 90âs on WYEP radio in Pittsburgh on radio host Bumblebee Slimâs Blues and Rhythm Show. Although recently both have established themselves as successful solo acts, the partnership with Jimmy Adler continues to this day as the two perform occasionally as an acoustic/electric duo.

Larry spent most of his life in Pittsburgh but has also lived in Waldorf, MD outside of Washington D.C., Johnstown, PA, and he currently resides in Indiana, PA where he performs regularly at Indianaâs historic Brown Hotel as well as for various other functions in and around Indiana and Pittsburgh.

The latest career turn for Larry comes with the November 2007 release of his first solo CD on Bonedog Records. Live It!, recorded at the Mojo Boneyard recording studio in McKeesport, PA features 11 songs, six written by Larry, two co-written with Jimmy Adler, and three written by acclaimed songwriter Mike Sweeney, whose songs have been recorded by Billy Price,Craig King,Bobby Wayne,The Hoodoo Drugstore and many others. The CD, co-produced by Larry and the Mojo Boneyardâs Jeff Ingersoll, showcases Larry as both songwriter and performer and features The Bonedog Allstars, an ensemble studio veterans including keyboardist Jimmy Britton, guitarist Jim Relja, drummer Brandon Barnes, and bassist Mighty Lilâ Johnson. Tying the past to the present are three tracks featuring the lead guitar work of former band mate and longtime collaborator, guitarist Jimmy Adler.

Larryâs style has evolved into a fusion of blues, soul and classic era rock and roll, and he has shown himself to be a dynamic and versatile singer as well as a formidable harmonica player. Most recently, he has garnered both attention and accolades as a songwriter. His songwriting reflects a lifetime of influences fusing rock, blues and soul rhythms with thoughtful and engaging lyrics.

Intimate live performances and a strong original song catalog have made Larry Nath a popular and recognized songwriter and entertainer who consistently delivers for his ever growing legion of fans.
