Biography

Grace Dyer was born in an apartment in Manhattan N.Y. to alcoholic parents on November 3, 1968. She was placed in the foster care system at the tender age of five years old. She grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. where she attended P.S. 44 and J.H.S. 258 it was these two schools Grace would discover her gifts and talents in the areas of rap music and literary art.

It was the late 70âs and early 80âs rap music began to boom and once Grace heard it she was hook. Grace mastered the ability to write poetical lyrics to music about her life and issues people faced in their lives everyday. It was upon entering Maxwell H.S. in East N.Y Grace let her closest friends in on her secret. That she could rap and she was good at it! constantly Graceâs friends encouraged her to continue with her talents and not give up.

At the age of sixteen Grace was placed in her fifth foster home in Brentwood Long Island. Grace discovered that her new foster parents had children that were already in the rap industry! Grace also found out that their names were Divine Sounds and they had a gold record under their belt. In the fall of 1986 Grace attended Brentwood Ross H.S she befriended Craig Mack who later signed with Bad Boy Records and Erick Sermon who formed the rap group EPMD imagine the excitement when she heard of their successes Grace felt if they could do it she could too. Grace graduated from Brentwood H.S. in 1987.

She attended Dowling College for theatrical majors. Grace decided she wanted to pursue freelance modeling and acting. Grace paid for her portfolio and headed straight for Manhattan. She was told by several agencies she was too short for runway but her chances was greater if she aimed for commercial or print because of her youthful appearance and being very photographic. Physical and verbal abuse at the hands of her boyfriend ended Graceâs dreams of being in television and any hopes of being a rap artist.

When Grace became a born again believer she didnât think God or the church would approve of rap. After being homeless several times, suffering domestic violence in several relationships Grace was on the brink of giving up on life completely.

In 1993 she met Rudy Dyer who after dating Grace asked her to marry him. Rudy discovered Graceâs ability to write her own rap lyrics and flow to any music she was given.

Rudy urged Grace to write a book and complete a multi track rap CD. Being full of hope in 2001 Grace published her first book her bio called âThe Tattered Quiltâ and 2005 Grace completed her rap CD entitled âBy Graceâ. Rudy promoted Graceâs material throughout Long Island the responses were great and Graceâs book and CD became a big hit among teenagers from all back grounds. Grace has a strong anointing which has and continues to touch the lives of problem youth and young adults throughout Long Island and has reached the borders of Missouri,Arizona and Ohio.

Grace has appeared in Today Woman Magazine, radio interview with CNN in Atlanta Georgia on domestic violence, News 12 Long Island, Newsday, Wyandanch and North Babylon Libraries, Milton L. Olive J.H.S and Wyandanch H.S, facilities for troubled girls and Grace has also performed and spoken at several church youth and church conferences.
