When asked to write a Christmas song for a film, Canadian singer/songwriter Monica Schroeder came up with something surrounding the themes she likes to sing about and wrote a song called âWonât be Home for Christmasâ. âI had no idea of what could possibly be said about Christmas that hadnât already been said. So I thought about my niece and what I would say to her, knowing that I wouldnât be making it back home for Christmas this yearâ.

When the song was submitted for the movie, Monica was asked if it was possible to flip the tone of the song to indicate a more positive outcome â âand can you make it more sparkly?â

Always up for a challenge, Monica re-recorded the song with different lyrics and a little âsparkleâ.

In the end, they didnât use either track - so now you have two songs. âHome for Christmasâ â âWonât be Home for Christmasâ⦠and you get to decide.
