Details:
Peter Webster is a singer and guitarist. He also writes songs. He is approaching a birthday with a zero at the end, is married with two children and lives in Ampthill, England. In addition to his solo projects, he is one half of an acoustic music duo: Peter Webster and Ross Fergusson. Peter and Ross play around the music circuit in Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire in the U.K.

Musically, Peter is influenced by traditional and contemporary British folk music as represented by performers such as Nic Jones, Kate Rusby and Show of Hands. He also loves the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and a wide variety of other music from the sixties, seventies and beyond, including blues, Spanish guitar, Latin and more.

The concept of producing the Acoustic Music Archive album grew out of the website of the same name that Peter has developed (www.acousticmusicarchive.com). "The Acoustic Music Archive website was really an experiment," says Peter. "The idea was to publish lyrics and chords for a series of popular and less well-known folk songs, together with commentaries about their origins and recordings of them. I thought that people could use this as a resource to learn songs, and I wanted to see how many visitors I could attract. As I worked on getting the site up and running, I realized that I had captured some pretty good performances of the songs. They stood up well against other versions that I have heard. So the idea of the album is to collect the best of these together and make them available for people on a physical CD or via download. I'm really pleased with the result and I'm hoping that people will like what they hear enough to buy the album."
