These feelings are simply expressed through songs written to effervescent melodies. Reco Jermaine Payneâs talent is comparable to no one. It is a refreshing, intense and rare gift to deliver the âgoose pimple effectâ. His energy gives an elevated state to R&B.

Most people are asking, âWhere exactly did Reco come from?â To answer this question you will not have to look far: North Carolinaâs very own Winston Salem Tre4. He grew up in a town called Tobaccoville. Yes it is a real place. There are so many talented, soulful and iconic figures singing gospel in that area. It is a real mecca of talent in the state of North Carolina alone, and yet it is still home for Reco Payne.

He was born into a very spiritual household. Mother Runetta, one of 12 siblings, had a brother of musical caliber. One of Recoâs older brothers and a sister both entered the clergy field. His older sister Bishop Nancetta Myers is a real mentor and inspiration to him. Two of Recoâs brothers and a nephew died violent deaths. This drives some of the pain you feel in his music. Reco was made to follow and act as the musical accompaniment. âSinging was all I ever wanted to do no matter what,â he proclaimed.

Recoâs very first performances as a child were more annoying than encouraging. âMy family probably could tell it best.â âWhen I was four years old, my favorite song was Freak Out.â Anytime family got together, it was show time. It was later on that he found his voice. By the age of eight he was leading songs in his local church choir. âI still remember the words to the first song.â He recalls.

Some major events unfolded in Recoâs musical venture. Starting high school was the beginning. Being the youngest in the advanced music class made it really hard for him to fit in. âI remember not speaking to anyone and just singing when instructed to.â I really felt like a bird all caged up.â By being denied his freedom to fly, he simply lost his song.

It was later on in his high school career that his talents begin to shine. Performing at assemblies and talent shows led his peers to vote him âthe most talented in his class.â Unbeknown to him, there was a vigilant eye watching. One of his high school substitute teachers knew the agent for the Coca Cola commercial ads. But Reco rejected the opportunity being heavily influenced by his mother and his own fear of the unknown.

Reco Payne finally reached a point of destitution due to the lack of credited musical production in the small town of Tobaccoville. Reco began to search for someone with as much passion and drive to pursue music as he had. After years of searching, it was at a local gym that a friend from high school surfaced who was known for his football abilities instead of his music. âI was not even expecting to record with Shu of Shu-Ha Productions. It just happened.â Ha of Shu-Ha made melodies and Shu made beats. âTogether we cooked that heat straight from the kitchen,â Reco says.

The spice and fire made in the home based studio were perfected at Dave Roland Sounds.
I really canât explain exactly what we do. You would just have to taste and see for yourself. We truly love what we do and it shows by appeasing every sense and emotion!â exclaims a passionate Reco Payne.
