From the playful opening track "Skip's Omelette" to the closing number "Goodnight Brigette" this CD is a must hear for any fan of fingerstyle guitar. Filled with inventive arrangements and intricate melodic lines Mr. Edgell has created an acoustic gem in the city of steel.
He is nominated for Best Solo Guitar Album & Best Solo Guitar Song in the Just Plain Folks 2004 Music Awards. www.jpfolks.com (the largest independent music awards in the world) He was the winner of the Pittsburgh Acoustic Challenge in 2002. He won the "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" College Band Search with his group Sleeping Giants in 1997.
Doug draws inspiration from books, movies, art, and other artists. Aside from a busy teaching schedule, he also performs in and around the Pittsburgh area. He records at his home studio with several guitars but mostly with his favorite, a 2002 614ce Taylor.
His debut CD "Nothing But Time" features 10 original works for fingerstyle guitar. Doug's music has been described as "intricate...melodic...and beautifully crafted."
