Beatles US Apple Records manager, Ken Mansfield, wrote
WindWallMusic that he likes The About project and that his favorite pick from that album is the song, "I Recall". Hmmm, not hard to guess why he happened to pick that one.
Donnie "G" of Beatlesbrunch.com, a Beatle's favorite site, welcomed The About with many compliments and added them to their sound clips page. The following was published by The Donny G. of Beatle Brunch:
A Must Hear CD For Beatles music fans!
The music, vocals, songwriting and arrangements are haunting to say the least, and reminiscent of the Beatles. Vic Morton and Tom Gordon both grew up in the sixties, and were deeply impressed by the four lads from Liverpool. Tom, from California [actually, Roanoke "Big Lick" , salt flat or guitar riff, Virginia ] was a natural on rhythm, lead and bass guitar. Tom toured and recorded through the years and is a musicians musician, able to play almost any style of music. Vic, from Virginia, performed cover material and recorded his own songs over the years. He is a songwriter, vocalist and rhythm guitarist, and it doesn't take but a few bars of one of his songs to hear who influenced his playing style. Vic and Tom met in 1998 and clicked immediately. Both yearned for that Beatles sound to continue after their break-up so they decided to record this special project, The About. Tom's musicianship ( playing all instruments on this CD), and Vic's vocals and songwriting gelled ... and the CD was born. Vic and Tom's goal is that others might enjoy these songs as much as they did creating them and fully discover what all this is really about.
