Hailing from the streets of one of Illionois largest cities, Rockford's own Big Pokie, Known to most as "MR. 815" has broken on to the hip-hop scene in the last few years. Taking inspiration from Cool-Mo-D, Bump J, Sly Polaroid, Do or Die, Bun-B and Nelly gave him his wide array of talents. Big Pokie focuses on his rough upbringing and harsh past as he rips through choruses and beats on his way to hit music. His debut album self titled "Big Pokie, Mr. 815" has been an instant classic amongst the streets of the Midwest as far out as Miami and Houston. Though his records are hot, most believe its Pokies stage performance that has brought him to the fore-front of the Mid West rap game. The way he brings crowds together and targets everyone from the sexy ladies in the front row, to the gangsters in the back shows his diversity. His work ethic is shown with hours of studio time and the ability to make a hit quickly. Pokie's skills have reached such a height that he even has his own group of artist that he has built known as BPE. The demand for Big Pokie features is larger then any other artist in the area, and the more than 100,000 plays on his myspace page shows that his popularity is not just local. Pokie teamed up with R&B legend Johnny P to produce two tracks that have set the bar out of reach for any other rapper in the area. "Make you say" and "Hustlin on the Block" show another side of the street raised artist. However, just because he can give the ladies something to go crazy over doesn't mean he has forgot his roots. His debut single " Cadillac Music" showcases the lyricist at his best. This fast rush of fame has not gotten to Big Pokie's head though, he is a humble, hardworking, lyrical Genius and has performed in front of thousands, opening for top artist Lil Wayne, T.I., Paul Wall, and Twista. He has also performed with Tyriese and Chingy at the NIU Convocations center in Dekalb IL.
