The senselessness of Hip-Hop has given birth to a new movement and a new type of artist. GAUGE (David Veira) the âill-talentedâ emcee, has embarked on a new venture that promises to put the sense back into Hip-Hop as he reps for the working class.

GAUGEâs positive spin on real-life situations has gained him both street credibility and industry attention. Being a native of Flatbush, Brooklyn, there is no doubt that his hip-hop roots run deep. His lyrical and rhyming skills were seasoned by his Trinidadian heritage as well as legendary schoolyard battles on his home turf.

GAUGEâs unique flavor sparked the attention of media such as but not limited to âOn Deck Demo Reviewsâ and âRap Pagesâ in addition to a feature in The Sourceâs Unsigned Hype column.

Noticed at an open mic event by Maestro Fresh Wes, (the legendary Canadian emcee) GAUGE later toured with him throughout the United States and Canada.

This opportunity led to performances with the Fugees, GangStarr, Wu-Tang Clan, and Coolio. His work ethic and fan base enabled him to attain these achievements without being signed to a major record label. His stage appearances were preceded by the release of âCranium,â an underground release that sold over 9000 units. The singleâs success included 13 weeks of airplay on Hot 97, in addition to GAUGEâs recognition as one of the highest selling underground artist. Another highlight of his career included a European tour in countries such as Germany, England and Switzerland. He enjoyed even more success through the MTV circuit by performing with Trinidadâs Soca Monarch winner Bunji Garlin at the International Concert in New Orleans and by hosting an episode of âSucker Free Sundayâ.

GAUGE, also a member of the renaissance group Shamellion Rebellion, has performed throughout New York. The Shamellion Rebellion is critically acclaimed for having one of the greatest stage shows in the Tri-State area. His new album entitled, âDecember Thirty-First Nineteen Ninety-Nine,â executive produced by Roger âBuddahâ Munroe of the Producers Coalition of America, is set for release on the Mental Link, Inc.
