Not Forgotten: Songs for the People of Afghanistan is a compilation album produced by Khorshied Machalle in collaboration with Grammy-Award winner, George Winston. In 1999, the two artists began working on a fundraising CD to help raise awareness about the plight of Afghan women under the oppressive Taliban regime. The album features original songs written and performed by Khorshied Machalle, accompanied by the beautiful piano artistry of George Winston, well known to many for his very popular piano solo CDâs. Also featured are a handful of traditional Afghan songs sung by Khorshiedâs father and cousin, accompanied by Afghan musicians on harmonium and tabla instruments. Not Forgotten: Songs for the people of Afghanistan was released in 2000, and featured in an ABC Prime Time special with Diane Sawyer, and at a special United Nations benefit honoring the work of Secretary General Kofi Annan.

The Artists for Afghanistan Foundation, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, was created by Ms. Machalle in 2000 with the aim of raising funds for cultural and educational projects in Afghanistan, helping Afghan women and children with literacy, and promoting Afghan arts and crafts. All proceeds from the sale of this album will go to the Artists for Afghanistan Foundation to assist with various projects currently underway or in development to help the Afghan people.
