The Resistance Blue duo, with Jeremy Starpoli on trombone and Ben Karetnick on drums, is celebrating over ten years of music making, continuing their dialogue that blends influences from the jazz, experimental and hip-hop (among other) traditions. Equally at home whether playing original compositions, freely improvising, or covering the material of American iconoclasts from Sun Ra to MF DOOM, the Resistance Blue duo brings this all together with their concepts of originality and exploration. Together, the two musicians have collaborated with many regionally- and internationally-known musicians such as Cliff White, Joe McPhee, Sabir Mateen, Raphe Malik, Daniel Carter and Steve Swell. Their self-titled Resistance Blue Duo CD presents an all-original set of music that captures the unique sound and concepts of this exploratory group.
