Are the doubts of this Hanseatic host legitimate? Is the T.A.S.S., one of those ominous, salvation promising associations, and with every CD purchased, do you close a lifelong membership, too? Or is that all straight-up rubbish and even down to the small print, you'll find exclusively one thing: good, really good music!

The fact is front man Claas Hoffmann, guitarist Torben Jens, bassist Stefan Happel and drummer Matthias Kreit joined forces in 2004, to combine the old with the new, the normal with the unusual, creating their very own, new sound. One can't describe them better than the band does in its self-portrait:

In 2007, the band released its first album, with the momentous title "Cup of Eternity", on the young Hamburg label "Treibhaus Tontraeger".

Ten songs reveal the musical and intellectual spectrum of the four guys. The experimental and original melodies, like ear worms, creep into your auditory canal and set up house. Their origins are found in the ancient 120-string instrument known as a Dulcimer, a combination of the Bavarian zither and the Indian sitar, on which the bandâs singer Claas composes the songs. The texts are sometimes ironical, sometimes melancholy and grave travelogues from unknown regions of the consciousness, far-off galaxies and an even more remote past. The lyrics are metaphorical and emotional â forming the essential contrast to Claas' expressive voice.

The band leaves a permanent impression on stage. Front man Claas is at times all provocative, all T-shirt wearing Dandy, and then again contemplatively ensnared in the depths of the songs, pulling you into his very own musical maelstrom. Guitar, bass and drums carry you on an emotional rollercoaster ride to the extreme and beyond. Who even cares about any paranoid rumours of sectarian structures whatsoever? The T.A.S.S. has to be heard and, above all, experienced.
