Her neo-soul sound is pure, unadulterated genius. Her vocal range affords her the flexibility to seamlessly transition from Neo-Soul to Pop, R&B, Gospel, Jazz, and Blues.

Born and raised in Washington , D.C. , she began singing at the age of 5 in church choirs. Her musical influences vary from an elementary music teacher to musical legends Stevie Wonder, Anita Baker, Prince, Erykah Badu, and Michael Jackson. Her greatest inspiration has been Jill Scott, whose music has been a driving force in Aprilâs determination to pursue her music career.

April Sampeâs lyrical gift led her to writing jingles for local radio stations, and her poetry has inspired songs.

April has performed at numerous venues, including the Pre-Grammy Awards Show(Fort Washington MD), Showtime at the Apollo, Howard University, BET , Blues Alley (Washington DC), Radio Oneâs 93.9 KYS FM (Washington DC), The Funk Box (Baltimore MD), SOBâs (New York), Fed Ex Field (Home of the Washington Redskins), Constitution Hall (Washington DC), and Fox 45 News (Baltimore MD). She has shared the stage with such groups as Black Diamond, Light Foot, Corner Street , Kamaria Sauda, and most notably, the world renowned group Fertile Ground. She recently visited Japan on the Blue Note tour with the group, performing throughout Tokyo and Yokohama .
