These songs are based upon stories from a childrenâs book that has been popular for two generations among the family and friends of the author and composer, Janie Tate. The character as a homemade, bandaged stuffed bear, was created as a Christmas decoration for the hospital where Janie worked as a nurse and the stories developed from that concept. Her musical and ekectronic abilities generated this album.
A draft script is now being marketed to animated movie producers.

The story and songs contain trouble, quirky characters, hard lessons, and global warming adventures for this loveable, bungling Polar Bear.
All he wants is to be important, get some respect, and be a rock star. Oh, and go wild and have lots of fun, too. Heâs a little bit generous and a little bit selfish. Sound like your normal teenager? Almost but not quite, SKRUFFY is a teenage Polar Bear.

Growling and gamboling, playing tricks and barging in, Skruffy annoys just about everybody -- other Polar Bears, Eskimos, the military, oilfield workers, the Tierra Club, and other Arctic inhabitants, including Santa Clausâs Elves and reindeer. Heâs a bit of a jerk that only his mother can love. Oh, and the cute little polar bear down the road likes him, too.
Skruffy trundles his way into all kinds of trouble, learning hard lessons along the way and becoming, sort of kind of, a better bear.
