ROCK: Roots Rock, ROCK: Americana

Details:
the dullards are a DC alt-country/roots rock band featuring the song-writing talent of Guy Benson and Alistair Millar, who have been playing together since they were wee lads. The lyrics and composition of the songs on their self-titled first CD meld to yield the perfect blend of rock, country and soul. Their rich vocals and fine harmonies are reminiscent of Uncle Tupelo and Wilco, but their sound is truly all their own. Alt-country fans would be remiss to pass the dullards by!

A reviewer with DCArt.org thought the CD "was truly unlike anything that I have heard . . . The vocals [are] very strong, yet subtle, haunting . . . The harmonies were super solid and like ambrosia dripping into my ears."

And The Washington Post commented that "After a year of woodshedding and playing casual gigs, the Dullards seem ready to make things less dull for themselves. The quartet is made up of local music veterans who have settled into a comfortable niche somewhere between Wilco and Uncle Tupelo, but without the overarching preciousness . . . Self-consciousness was in short supply, as were overzealous solos, and the team effort was earnest."
