The goal of the band is to play an ecclectic mix of instrumental music that has a strong improvisational element without sacrificing a strong sense of groove.

12 MP3 Songs
JAZZ: Jazz Fusion, JAZZ: World Fusion

Details:
This instrumental duo delivers an exciting mix of improvisational groove music to stimulate the mind and body. Drawing on Jazz, Rock, Latin, and World music, the musicians of Duology will take you on a musical journey that reflects the ethnic roots of its members, the spice of Latin America, their extensive studies of straight-ahead jazz, and the funky sounds of their hometown, Washington, D.C. A glimpse of the diverse universe this group inhabits is now available on its first independent release, One and One Makes One. Of the twelve tracks on the album, ten are originals and two are covers (Herbie Mann's Todos Locos and Danilo Perez's Hot Bean Strut).

Duology is a collaboration of two musicians and friends, Sriram Gopal, on drumset and percussion, and Geoff Rohrbach, on keyboards and flute. Sriram grew up playing drums and studied formally in high school with Francis Thompson and with Steve Fidyk at the University of Maryland. Geoff received his training in Boston, MA, where he studied Jazz piano and classical composition at the Berklee College of Music. The two met at a jam session in Bowie, MD in 2002. After working together in various jazz and music ensembles, their common musical interests led them to form Duology in the summer of 2004.
