SCR is revered for a down-to-earth rock n roll spirit, wit and charm that resonates throughout their music and connects with fans by being nostalgic and fresh at the same time. With a diverse songwriting allure that spans many musical genres ranging from pop and southern rock to alternative, the band embodies a unifying and original Swamp City Rock sound. Influences such as The Eagles, Stones, Springsteen, The Police, Tom Petty, Wilco and STP are sprinkled throughout the new album Fools Gold, which is a solid collection of stick-in-your-head roots rock songs driven by acoustic-based rhythms, vocal harmonies and blazing lead guitars.

A rare, dual lead singer/songwriter lineup is the main ingredient to the band's uniqueness and stylistic range. Chris James brings a warm rich vocal and acoustic touch, while Mike Ruy dirties things up a bit with soaring lead playing that gives the band its rock edge. It's a combination that works beautifully and is only intensified by the amazing dynamic drumming energy of Matt Berg. Tasty bass playing offered up by newest Romeo Robbie Wright further enhances the performance.

Having gained notoriety around Northern California, the Romeos have been able to attract many of the area finest musicians to perform on their latest album: Fools Gold. Among them: Dave Rude on guitar (Tesla) Phil Bennet, keyboards (Starship) and J Bowman, guitar (Spearhead).

Released independently by local label Loud American and produced by Brian Bolton the Fools Gold record showcases the Small Change Romeos ability to write and record diverse styles of tunes while somehow bringing them all together into a heart felt, socially conscious and commercially viable rock album.

In addition to building a strong following and connection with fans around the Bay Area and beyond, they have had their music featured in commercials seen on various cable stations like Comcast 11, 26 and CNN and have had their music broadcast on internet, satellite and local radio. SCR was also the featured artist and download of the week on the SNOCAP home page in Dec. '07. In 2005 they had a song chosen for the "Sauza Live All Summer" album which distributed 40,000 copies nationwide. They can also be seen on the ongoing television show SF Sound.

Not withstanding the great players that helped them with their new release, Small Change Romeos have also had the pleasure of performing/ playing/ recording with some other of California's best players including: Billy Talbot (Crazy Horse), Eamonn Flynn (Zigaboo Modeliste), Tre Cool (Green Day), Earnest "Boom" Carter (formerly of the E Street band), Randy Cordiero (Super Diamond) and James King (Carson Daly show).
