Details:
DUMB BLIND LUCK is a five piece group based in Clearwater, FL. The two guitarists, Bob Forrest and Jim Neal, have known each other and played in various bands since meeting in High School in San Francisco in the late 60s. Growing up surrounded by the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Airplane and all the many famous groups playing at the original Fillmore Auditorium, Jim and Bob played folk, rock, and a bit of jazz on both acoustic and electric guitars. After Bob moved to Clearwater, Florida in the late 90's, he met and began playing and writing with Cookie Leonard. She plays both keyboards and electric violin and the two of them began writing in earnest. After trying out various local musicians on bass and drums, the group settled with Mike Alkema, a wonderful horn player who took up the bass just for the group, and Tony Lago, a Cuban-born drummer. Jim Neal joined up with his old partner Bob to complete the band and combined his lyrical guitar playing along with his experience in recording and engineering to help co-produce and engineer the CD with Bob. Bob and Cookie share the song writing credits and between Bob's Dylanesque blues and rock lyrics and Cookie's soulful voice and jazzy keyboards, the group developed it's unique blend of foot tapping and upbeat soul stirring tunes you'll hear here on "What's The Deal?"
