Lionel Duppins (AKA, Dupp) grew up in an environment where music was heard daily and nightly as a child. There were frequent social gatherings at his parents' home. Usually, classic soul music provided one form of entertainment during such gatherings. Over the years, Dupp progressed from playing brooms to playing several instruments including drums, saxophones, keyboards, guitar and bass. Although exposed to many instruments, he gravitated to the bass as his main instrument. He has played in Oldies but Goodies, Top 40, Pop, Funk/Soul, Rock bands and Gospel groups.

Eventually, Dupp became interested in writing and recording. Working with a group of talented musicians and engineers, motivated by life experiences and influenced by rock/soul genres Dupp created "Light in the Darkness" which has an underlying optimistic view in the midst of it all.

Hopefully, the music is enjoyable and the lyrics are inspirational to listeners regardless of whether things couldn't be better or a momentary period of difficulty is being experienced.
