"Very rarely has a recording of traditional music been as respectful to the art, and [it's] creators, as this."

"who's been here since I've been gone,' contains 14 lovingly crafted tracks; songs as much as 150 years old, passed on from one generation to the next. From the instrumental fury of "Hell and Scissors," to the hair-raising acapella "Blackbird," their wicked tunes and sweet lullabys highlight their astounding voices and impeccable musicianship.

Dyad is a young, Vancouver-based trio whose fresh take on Appalachian mountain ballads and instrumentals draws on such diverse influences as trip-hop, Scandinavian, blues, and classical music. Stephani Custer, Shiho Mizumoto, and Kori Neil Miyanishi create alternately lush and sparse atmospheres for their haunting vocal harmony using fiddles, low fiddle, banjo, and guitar. Through tales of murderous lovers, rabble-rousing rogues and tragic ends, they have been entrancing audiences on the West Coast for two years, all the while gaining a reputation, and much respect, from the folk music community for their faithful devotion to the art of tradition.
