David Hicken was born in Shropshire, England into a musical family. His mother began teaching him piano at the age of three and he later went on to study clarinet and organ. By the time he was fifteen, he had earned five Grade 8 Diplomas from the Associated Board of the Royals Schools of Music with Distinction.

While still a teenager, David gave numerous solo performances at Cathedrals throughout England, including St. Paulâs and Westminster in London. At sixteen, he studied at the Royal College of Music and a year later accepted a full scholarship to Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, MD.

David began composing in 1988 and his first CD âThe Final Toccataâ was released in 1990 by President Records which was followed three years later by âThe Shadow of Youthâ with Prestige Records. The latter is now available for purchase on iTunes.

After moving to Los Angeles, he continued to compose while working as an organist, choir director, teacher and conductor. He was the featured soloist with the Westchester Symphony Orchestra on two occasions, and went on to record two CDs of classical organ works at Loyola Marymount University, which were both released by Laserlight Records.

Davidâs passion is composing and performing, and he enjoys creating beautiful music that has a calming and soothing effect on the listener. âMy aim is to produce music that enriches the lives of my audience, by helping to melt away the stresses of everyday life.â

David has traveled extensively and even lived for a while in Thailand and Sri Lanka. He now lives on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii with his wife and daughter.
