Elijah Black's 2005 release, Naked 'Gainst The Blue Sky, is further proof that there is outstanding music being put out by independent artists, largely ignored by commercial radio stations and record companies. Kid Rock recently on the nationally acclaimed Howard Stern Show spoke with Elijah and said âDude, you got a great voiceâ after listening to early demo Tracks and earlier releases. Elijahâs 10-song CD is a gritty hard rock album with catchy guitar hooks, big drums, and the attitude to match. Black is not alternative rock, nor is he metal. It's just simple straight-forward rock, and probably one of the best CDs you haven't heard yet. One reviewer wrote that the band plays "thick-necked, muscular, blues-infested rock with a capital 'R'." After listening to the CD just one time, you'll see that he was right on target. This album has some of the best rock guitar playing this side of the 21st century as Black belts out thought-provoking lyrics with his tremendous vocals. Opening for rock legends such as Motley Crue, Styx, Neil Young, and Cinderella, among others, the Akron-based Black already has a foot in the door. If Elijah continues writing and recording music such as what is found on Naked 'Gainst The Blue Sky, Elijah Black might find himself listed in that category of "rock legends" in the future.
