Recorded in a span of Fall 2006 to Fall 2007, it is a compilation of Evan's experiences on the east coast, with all of his friends that he has met along the way.
Very special thanks to John Billings, who recorded Joseph in his studio and helped out so very much during the tracking process. Thanks John!
The cd from start to finish is a truly great listening experience with soaring compositions by Evan Marien.
Beautiful, catchy melodies with amazing musicianship.
Evan's ability to program and sequence synths and drum machines is flawless, molding his bass around his tracks, weaving his solos in and out of the music.
The Way is Music. Music is Life.
Joseph Wooten (Victor Wooten's brother and bandmate, Steve Miller Band keyboardist) said of recording with Evan:
"Nice round of changes, your bass solo was very nice....not over played, not a chop fest but well placed, well though notes. Keep up the good work. We need more players like you!"
Joseph Wooten appears on the song The String Theory, tearing through the complex chord changes with passion.
Eden Electronics (of whom Evan has been an endorser for 3 years now) says Evan Marien is a "youthful prodigy"
When Jazz bassist Mark Egan first heard Evan play, he said "Obviously, he's a great player, he's also a gifted composer. I'll be keeping an eye on him for sure"
Mark Egan recently reviewed "The Way" and had this to say:
"You really are a good composer. I enjoyed the songs, arrangements and orchestrations.
Keep growing that gift.
I also really liked you bass playing and thought that you supported the songs without feeling that you had to overplay because it was your record. I also enjoyed your solos, nice melodic playing."
