hey y'all, just to fill you in, some of you know about this and some of you don't.

thursday nights, any and all (except a week from today when I'll be out of town) my apartment will be hosting "open music thursdays." don't let the name throw you. i know it's not a creative name. if it helps, for the "band" I'm thinking of the name "Immanuel Won't," from my (not yet) famous poem that begins:
Don't say Immanuel Kant
Say Immanuel won't...

What happens on thursday nights at the house of Immanuel Won't?

Anything! Sort of. As long as it's not so loud that I have to ask the neighbors' permission. I'm a big fan of the quiet school of rock (ask me about the Church fathers in 300 A.D.). Meaning listen for the lowest sound in the universe, and harmonize with that. Meaning why would we have cellos there (the billion dollar instrument) if we want to are going to drive right over them with 99-cent guitar distortion?

The point is, it's regular (it comes every Thursday [except next!]), and it's musically sensitive, supple, [chose your own 'feminizing' adjective!]. But at the same time it's open (anyone can come, and no one has to), and it's a free space to work out ideas and issues.

Bring all kinds of sounds, not only your primary instruments; bring all kinds of poetry and critiques of Kant, etc.

Bring your body, soul, and mind. Even bring beer! I've got a 12-pack of High Life in the fridge, left over from last week, which never got drunk, thanks Will's bringing of Sierra Nevada and Paul and Erin's genius with the cucumbers and Pimms.
