A tasty mix of classic country, folk, rock and R & B, John Lanierâs brand of Americana music sounds like what might happen if George Jones, John Mellencamp, Delbert McClinton, and Steve Earle got together for a late-night jam. Growing up in Southeastern NC, Lanier soaked in all things music. Phases in punk, metal, country,old-school rhythm & blues, (even a degree in classical music) finally culminated in a move to Nashville to focus on songwriting.

After a few years of taking in the musical landscape of Nashville, Lanier teamed up with producer Richard Ferreira to begin work on what would become Highway In The Rain. Along the way, three additional tracks were recorded with Adam Deane as producer giving the record a wide range of styles and sounds.

Lyrically, Highway In The Rain tackles everything from politics and the state of the world, to relationships and growing up. Musically, the songs have something often mercilessly missing from singer/songwriter offerings: they groove. Acoustic and electric guitars, vintage keyboards, pedal steel, and horns ride on top of some bass and drums that move in such a way you could almost (gasp) dance......
