Larry Minsky has received national recognition for
his vibrant and appealing jazz piano compositions for
students.Larry completed his bachelor of arts degree
in political science at Queens College in New York
and studied music theory and composition with Sol
Berkowitz at the Aaron Copland Music School , in
New York.He is an independent studio teacher of
classical and jazz styles in Florida and a former jazz
pianist in New York City.

Larry's active professional career included
performing in many rock bands, jazz bands, and
restaurants and clubs as a soloist. In addition to
performing at famous New York restaurants and
hotels, including the Waldorf Astoria, Larry also
performed with his own band. Concurrently, he
continued to study both jazz and classical music
with top New York instructors. Larry's music is
represented on the National Federation of Music
Clubs, and his articles on jazz improvisation have
appeared in Clavier magazine. His creative output
includes many solo jazz albums and arrangements of
jazz standards published by Alfred/Warner Bros and
KJOS, all of which are educational supplemental
libraries of piano music written specifically to
correlate with all piano methods. In addition there
are recorded works not in print, that are
contempory but not predominately jazz works.

The oldest of these compositions were originally
composed in the late 1970s and later revised. Some
are playful in style, most more introspective.They
draw on both jazz and classical music- the more
modern type. Favorite composers have been: Bach,
Chopin, Eric Satie, Debussy, Copland, Duke
Ellington, Gershwin, and Bill Evans. A current
favorite of a living composer is the incredibly
beautiful compositions of Lowell Liebermann.

Larry currently resides in central Florida with wife
Amy, daughter April, son Adam, and a gentle aging
mixed lab named Samantha.Both April and Adam
while not looking for music as a career, play and
compose.
