This CD is a distillation of Mona Golabek's book, The Children of Willesden Lane, in which she tells of how her mother, Lisa Jura, a budding virtuoso pianist, escaped Nazi-occupied Vienna during World War II and came to England via a miraculous means known as the Kindertransport which saved many children from becoming victims of the Holocaust. Mona narrates the story as well as illustrates the book with her own piano performances of many works that her mother loved and performed.
