Details:
ALABAMA, BLUES, ROCK N' ROLL, HIGHEST OF THE HIGHS, LOWEST OF THE LOWS... Nate Wake's debut album, "Death Ain't No Surprise," is a full-length independently produced album consisting of all original songs. Blues and rock n' roll drive the record, while country, reggae and tribal Native American music each make an appearance. The music sounds like a mix of early Rolling Stones, the blues and the White Stripes.

Nate Wake laid his blues down with vocals, guitar, harmonica, drums, percussion and Native American flute. His brother, Matt Wake, blessed the album with head-chopping guitar on 6 of the tracks. John Catrino propelled the record with heavy hitting drums on 3 tracks. All songs on "Death Ain't No Surprise" were written by Nate Wake, except for a couple tunes, "River Gets Strong" and "Rearview Mirror," written by Nate and Matt Wake. The title track âDeath Ainât No Surpriseâ was born one night when Wake was writing down mysterious lyrics about death. The first-person account of death did not make sense to Wake until the next morning when he received bad news that his grandfather had died the night before.

âDeath Ainât No Surpriseâ was recorded on analog tape with a vintage 8-track reel-to-reel machine by the Wake Brothers at Matt's Underground Sound Studio in Central, SC. The Wake Brothers and Dwight Hutchenson of By'r Lady mixed the record at Underground Sound. The album was mastered by Fred Kevorkian of Kevorkian Mastering @ Avatar Studios in New York, NY.
